A few editions ago, I spoke about whether passion was enough for someone to find success and while I think passion is important to keep you motivated, hard work is the driving factor.
Something I come across a lot in the racing drivers I work with is a desperate need for a quick fix. When you’re looking for five or six figures to go racing, there is no such thing as a quick fix.
That being said, I have coached drivers to six-figure results in less than two months but the one thing these drivers have in common is the fact they’ve worked for it. They took my guidance and they worked hard to secure that money.
The ones that follow my guidance but don’t work their butts off don’t do so well, or it takes them longer to reach their goals.
I’m of the belief that you can do ANYTHING if you set your mind to it and put in the work.
In the Mary Poppins musical (am I about to ruin my street cred here?) there’s a line in one of the songs that goes:
Anything can happen if you let it.
And another that goes:
If you reach for the heavens, you get the stars thrown in.
This is the song I put on if i need a pick-me-up because it reminds me that my big goals are well within my reach and usually it’s my limiting beliefs that are holding me back.
I do have HUGE goals and I know people think I’m being ridiculous when I talk about my future yacht that I’m going to use to sail around my favourite Croatian islands.
But I know the only way I’m going to get there is through consistent, hard work.
To reach your goals, you need to realise two things:
You are capable of whatever you put your mind to.
There are no shortcuts.
If you’re reading this newsletter to get a better insight into who I am, there you go. But if you’re here to learn something or better yourself in some way, try thinking about what you could do if you didn’t hold yourself back.
Do something every day that gets you closer to your goals.
It’s not always going to be easy.
Your motivation will come and go.
But consistency and hard work will pay off.

Social Experiment
Introductory messages on LinkedIn make sense as an outreach technique but I find it really difficult to get them right. I feel like everyone is expecting a sales pitch so they’re not receptive to even the most genuine approach.
I know how powerful LinkedIn can be but it frustrates me no end because building actual relationships with my connections is so hard. I thought I’d try something new this week and sent out some really simple messages.
The response rate hasn’t been great (around 30%) but the few people I have spoken to have been lovely and very interesting. I’m going to mix it up and try something else to increase that response rate. I’ll report back next week.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you use LinkedIn.
